Memphis Tennessee Needs A Skatepark

Memphis is getting a Concrete public skate park that will be built and designed by the same company that did Louisville’s park. They received almost 500K from their city council. But….the skate park won’t be done until spring of 2010. So they are working on getting a “do-it-yourself” skate park up and running ASAP!

While skaters are waiting for park, they are raising funds for building cheaper temporary ramps in inner-city areas of Memphis to share skating with kids who have never skated. While most of you don’t get a lot of corks, you probably go through a lot of aluminum cans. Collect your cans and then on then bring them to a location that will be announced very soon. After collecting the cans that day, the skater will skate through downtown and then celebrate back at the “do-it-yourself” skate park that they are building in the hood down in South Memphis. More details will follow. Money raised will pay for resurfacing the “SPOM bowl” with skatelite. This means they need to raise around 4 grand.
